A conference of representatives of County Councils was Leld yesterday, respecting sundry matters of common interest. After discussing the action of the Government regarding the land fund the following resolution was carried : — "That £he" representatives of the County Councils of Canterbury novr present are of opinion tl.at all efforts hitherto made to induce the Government to comply with lavr, by which they are bound to pay over the balance of land fund due on December 31 st, having faileJ, it is desirable that legpl proceedings b, instituted for the purpose of c( mpeiling Government to obey the law."
