Monday.
The Supreme Court sat till after ten o'clock on Saturday night, when Carl and Gottlieb Schmidt were found guilty- of unlawfully wounding. Carl received nine months, and Gottlieb twelve months. All to-day was occupied with the trial of Toop, for absconding with the money of his creditors. The trial is still proceeding.
The case of Hallett v. Ormond, which was looked forward .with a great deal of curiosity, has been settled. '■ This day. In the Supreme Court last evening George Edward Toop was for.nd guilty of absconding with moneys which should have been divided among his creditors. Sentence, twelve months' hard labor. I having been arrested at a place more than 200 miles beyond Sydney, and be addcJ, the time might arrive when it would reach to the furthest corner of the civilized world. In every ease tried this Assize, convictions have been obtained.
