The crushing at the company's mill is showing considerable improvement, which is doubtless owing to the improvement, in the quartz from the slopes. ■', The tunnel cross cut has been driven 25 feet north, and, owing to tbe favorable nature of the ground, good progress is being made. The following is the mine manager's usual weekly report: —" 150 feet Level.— Driving west on the hanging-wall branch of No. 9 reef has been resumed, the leading slopes being worked along and timbered up. Driving and* stoping can now be carried on at the same time. The drive east between two slides, is in soft and broken country. There is no defined reef, but bunches of quartz two feet thick lying horizontally, and worth about sdwts per ton. The wi-ize sunk here from 80 feet level carried a well defined reef 30 feet deep, where, from its. appearance, I think it is split up. Between this and the bottom level the reef becomes small, and underlies at an angle of 45 degrees. I am now prospecting to prove this at bot"tomtarel, but-the country being disturbed makes it difficult and expensive to follow the re3f. 80 feet Level —Quartz stringers are now making in north crosscut, but.. I do not think it is No. 2, > the reef being dislocated by the main slide. No. 4 winze.—Sinking on No. 9 reef will in a few more feet be down the required depth to 150 feet level. The Buopes throughout are looking very well, and the stuff is .showing for improved returns. Tunnel level—The south cross-cut has been suspended, as it should have intersected Point liusseH reef ere now. I, have now started on north side, and 25 j feet has been driven. The country is good—a little water is coming from the ! face. Fair progress is being made in sinking the Point Russell winze. There are leaders of quartz and bands of mullock from three feet ii thickness, but I think after a few more feet sinking the reef will become better defined, and of a more promising appearance. The machinery is all in good working order.—l am, &0., Eobbbt Combb." Money and party's crushing finished to-day produced 4ozs 13dwts gold.
