PATEA.
Friday.
The foundation stone of the Patea breakwater was laid to day by the chairman of tie Harbour Board. Mr G. F. Sherwood moved that the suggestion made by Sir John Coode be adopted, -consequently the groin will be run out from the inside of the .eastern head for a distance of 700 feet, instead of along the boulder bank, as designed by Mr Carruthers. Ihe contractor has agreed to the modifications, and will proceed at once with the work.
