Mb and Mr* Addey celebrated the halfyearly examination of the pupils of the Ladies' College conducted by them with an "At Home" last night, at which were assembled a large number of Visitors besides the pupils. Dancing and other amusements were engag: d in, and a very pleasant evening was spent by ail prcrent. Mr and Mrs Addey received the congratulation! of their friends on the success which has attended tfeeir efforts to provide a superior education for young ladies, as eridenced by the results attained at the examination just closed.

An Auckland contemporary noti es the performances of Mr Jack and Miss Firmin as follows:—Mr Jack repealed his inimitable representation of the "Falst ff" at the theatre last night. There can be no manner of doubt that the fat Knight is far and away this actor's best part. Get up, manner, and gesture are all admirable; in fact, the entire performance is worthy of the highest praise. Miss Firmin makes a \lTaeious Prir.ce Hal, but we can scarcely believe that gentlemen wore their hafr quite so long in the. fifteenth century.
