The manager states that he has discontinued driving operations on the Sons of Freedom tunnel in consequence of the necessity of repairing the line, as tHs ia to be the future oatlet of quartz from the upper levels. The manager expects to intersect the Sons of Freedom lode in Dixon's low level crosscut, in about three weeks' time, that is, if the country continues as good as at present. Strong colors of gold are seen in the reef at the 70-feet level (below the Whau level), and in the Whau level drive west the reef ia looking first-class, and specimens are coming to hand frequently. lOOlbs of golden stone has been obtained during the past few days.
