There being a good quantity of stuff collected from the No. 8 level in the Piako hopper, carting was commenced on Saturday, and crushing started at the company's mill this morning with 10 head of stampers. The stuff looks Al, is free from mullock, and looks as. well as the quartz composing the trial par-

eel did. The air at this level is bad, and rather retards progress. The shaft is down about 12 feet, and continues dry. About 30 feet or so more will communicate with the No. 8 level. The stoping operations on the foot-wall leader in the Queen of the May section are producing good quartz. The leader here is small.
