(Before W. Praser, Esq., E.M.) BBEACH OF THE PEACE.

William Dobsell was charged with provoking a breach of the peace, and also with assaulting Constable Kenn dy and' breaking his uniform hat, value 10s 6d. Defendant was on bail, and failed to appear. Constable Kennedy deposed that the defendant was creating a disturbance, and on his arresting defendant, the latter struck him, and destroyed his hat. His Worship ordered the bail (£10) to be forfeit 3, 10s 6d of it to be p.id to Constable Kennedy for the injury to the hat. DBUNKENNESS. "• Annie Bannarth was charged with drunkenness, and fined 10s, and costs, with the usual alternative.

Owen Gogan plead d guilty to a charge of unlawfully discharging fire-anrs, to the annoyance of persons in Grey street. Mr Bullen said that the lad before the. He said he had left the cow at the Tararii slaughter house, and as there was no one to look after the slaughter house the gate was opened and the animal wandered. He had already p&:d>'9s poundage fees. .He de-\ sired to draw the attention of the Court to the fact that he had been summoned on Monday last, and the case did not come off till to-day, which, was a great loss to him. .Fined Is and costs. - ANOTHEB CASE. Geo. Cribb, was charged with permitting a cow and calf to wander at large. Mrs Cribb appear d for her husband, and pleaded guilty. Fined 2s 6d and costs. PBOFANITY AND OBSCENITY. John Mounoe and William Jennings were charged with using indecent and obscene language within the hearing of persons passing in a public place, to wit, Grey street, Shortland.
