James BJjthe, under vemand for embezzling the monies of the Albion Brewery Company, who had been liberated on bail, has absconded. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney or Melbourne. At a meeting of the Education Board, held to-day, it was resolved not to enter♦■;in the applications for school buildings until the money enabling them to build had bean vot^d by Parliament. This day. The High Sch' 1 Board have received a telegram from Sir Julius Vogel that Mr Mac Donald, second master of the Edinburgh High School, has been appointed rector of the Dunedin High School. He (Sir Julius) says that tbe Board was forlunate to secure Mr Mac Donald's services.
