PRINCE IMPERIAL.
The mine generally is looking very well. In the winze at Wo. 2 level on the xMariner's reef, mentioned in my last report, gold is freely disseminated throughout the quartz, and a breaking down yesterday gave sever?. 1 lbs of specimen stone. The reef in the winze, which is now down 12
feet, has a much stronger and more healthy appearance than in the drive, which'promises well for the gold going down.. The qua *tz fs vrry solid and dark, and the gold is frequently coarse, though to-day I was also shown some nice specimens of fine gold derived from the Mariner's reef. The.c is a very large block in the claim., as the reef traverses it from north - east to south - west. Not more than 50 feat of, driving has been done to the eastwards. The operations at the bottom level—all on the No. 2 reef-— are proceeding without much change. The two winzes being sunk near the shot of gold are making fair progress; and a few specimens are coming to hand occasionally. There are 50 or 60lbs of specimens and picked stuff at the mine, and a large tannage of general stuff, but when crushing wiU epmmence has not yet beon decided.
