SMILE OF FORTUNE.
Hutchinson and party arrived in town to-day with some 251 ounces of gold, the produce of a crushing of 92 tons at the battery. Mr Hutchinson informed me that the leader worked varies'in size from 15 inches to 3 feet, and they have cut right' in the centre of a shot of gold. The tributers are confident that there is plenty more of this kind of stuff, and as they have very long backs it will be seen that there is some corn in Egypt yet. To the above yield must be added an additional 18ozs over from last crushing, which was not banked with the last lot. Wick's tribute and Cox's tribute also gave good yields, particulars of which will be found in a pigeongram in another column. The total yield from the three tributes for about one fortnight's crushing is 3490zs Bdwts gold. This is according to the weighing at the bank. The faulty scales at the mine account ior the difference between this and the amount according to the pigeongram. \
