MANUKAU.

White and party, to whose tribute section I referred in a previous report, have finished their crushing of 10 tons at the Herald mill for the return of 5£ ounces gold. This return proves that the tribute can be worked with profit, as the lode from whence it was obtained is 6 feet thick, and the stuff can be got to the mill free of haulage, which is rather a heavy tax on low grade stuff, and not unfrequently is the difference between profit and loss to tributers.
