DR KILGOUR AND THE BOROUGH.
(To the Editor of the Evening Stab.)
Sib,—l waa much pleased to read your articles re Dr Kilgour's conduct ia charging exorbitant expenses when he is allowed a sufficient income for such expenses with* out " piling on the agony " to this already impecunious Borough. Dr Kilgour has thought proper to call a public meeting by advertisement; such attendant charges, I expect, to be at the expense of the Borough also. As I see the " rag-tag and bobtail" of His Worship are already hob-nobbing various ratepayers—l suppose for support —it behoves all independent ratepayers to. be up and doing, and not allow the public funds of the Borough to be wasted at the caprice of people whose only object is "get all you can, and never mind the rest." Brother ratepayers, our late Mayor, J.E. Macdonald, never charged a penny for expenses (except in that forced journey to Wellington, when he obtained an obliteration of a great debt), but gave all his salary to expenses, local and other objects. I can only add, Dr Kilgour has disappointed the persons who voted for him at the last election, but jgfe^ will be found wanting at the next.—l am, &c, Bjltepaysb.
