WATCHMAN.
A crushing of 7 tons for the tributers, George and party, realised 12 ounces gold. There is yet another parcel of gold to come from the headings, blanketings, etc., which have produced some 19 ounces of amalgam.* Mr George and his mates have only recently taken up the block for which they pay 10 per cent., and since the taking up a considerable amount of dead work has been done, including a pass connecting the upper and lower, or Sons of Freedom levels, and a shout has also been made by which the quartz is sent down to the tramway. Their lode which they are working from the upper level is six feet thick, and there is about 30 feet of. backs here. The tributers have started a level some 60 feet below the upper one, and expect to intersect the lode at that depth. They have divided the tribute into eight shares, and are sanguine that the section will be a good payable one, as indeed the trial crushing indicates.
