OLD SIAM.
The recent trial crushing, which proved unpayable, was derived from the poorer portion of the lode, and consequently could not be expected to yield much. The shareholders have decided not to touch any more of the -quartz until they get up to the junction, which is about 70 feet distant yet, and, indeed, when the claim was pegged out the shareholders anticipated that the reef would be unremunerative until the junction was reached. The country in the face now it shooting ground. When the drive is up to the old workings there will be 150 feet of backs to stope out, and the abaft should also be quickly drained. One of the last crushings obtained before the old ihare*
holders were flooded out yielded over two ounces per ton.
