RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY. (Before A. J. Allom aDd H. Goldsmith, 1 Esqs., J's.P.) BBEACH OF THE SAIE OF POISONS ACT. James Mcßoberts was charged with a breach of the Sale of Poisons Act, 1871, by keeping an open shop for retailing a certain poison known es chlorodyne without being licensed under the said Act., > Defendant pleaded guilty. He did not know that he had made any breach of the law; several storekeepers sold chlorodyne. Mr Bullen informed the Bench that he did not wish for a penalty, but simply had brought up the defendant a# a warning to other storekeepers who sold the poison without being registered so to do. The Chairman of the Bench said this case would be dismissed, but Warned defendant that any other breach would be dealt with severely.. He requested the members of tbe press to give publicity to the case as a warning to other storekeepers. Court adjourned.
