RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

THIS DAY. . (Before W. Fraser, Esq., R.M.) DBUNKENNEBS. Three individuals—two males and one female— were charged with drunkenness. The female was fined 20s and costs, one of the men 10s, and the other failing to appear his bail was forfeited. LABCENY. John Atkins; a lad aged about 15 years, was charged with stealing 18s 6d from his father, Geo. Atkins, on the 29th inst. Mr Bullen said ,that this was one of those unfortunate cases in which the father prosecuted the son; The lad, as His Worship would see,.was-well kept, and as he was an only son, he had been rather spoiled, the consequence of which was he got into bad company, and stayed away from home. Whenever he wanted money, he broke into his father's house and took it. In the day'in question he had broken in and taken the 18s 6d, and his father, on the spur of the moment, had given him in charge, which he now regretted having done, and wished to withdraw the charge. The lad consented to be bound to a trade. i

Hi» Worship said he would permit the withdrawal of the charge, and cautioned the defendant never to appear before him again. Court adjourned. .
