CRICKET.

Belltoppjebs v. Thames.

This match came off at the cricket ground, Farawai, to-day, the reipectire teams being driren to the acene of contest at about 10 o'clock. On arrival there it was found that a first rate wicket had been prepared, and other arrangements had been made for the comfort of the teams. Eobinson, the captain of the " chimney pots " won the toss, and decided to go in, Mumford and the skipper facing the bowling of Whitford and Frater. Robinson played carefully, and was not put out till he had made 19, when he was cleverly caught by Burgess. Mumford was not so fortunate, he being caught by Crump for 10. Lynch and Wliitaker played careful innings for 11 am 1.16 respectively, but with this exception the Auckland boys made no very brilliant scores, which was chiefly owing to the effective bowling of Burgess, and the smart fielding of *• Thames men generally. The innings closed for 89. After a short adjournment the Thames went in, and up to about 1 o'clock one wicket was down for, 10 runs. •., . The following are the scores up to about one o'clock:—
