THE WEEK.
The general mining news of the week has been of little importance, owing in a great measure to the holiday time. The New North Devon has been attracting some little attention, but until some work is done but little is known how it will shape. The moving of the company's office to Auckland has created a large amount of hostile comment, and has by many been taken as a symptom of weak faith in the mine by the directors, who, by the removal, hope to open a more extended market for the shares. The opening of roads, the discovery of a new auriferous deposit at Ohincmuri, and the replies to the County Council's suggestions re prospecting and rewards may be said to have comprised the week's news, but having been noticed in their proper E laces they do not call for special remark ere.
