Duncan's bakery was totally destroyed by fire last night. The origin of the fire is not known. It was insured in the Norwich Union Company for ,£2OO, and the slock and furniture in the South British for £3CO.
William Cooper's house at Whakatautu run was burnt to the ground. 'J he library and furniture, valued at £IQCD, were destroyed. Total loss estimated £3030. There was no insuraace. Tho policy had just lapsed, and a messenger was coming into town at the time of the fire to renew the insurance, but arrived too late. •
