BOROUGH EXPENDITURE.
(To the Editor of the E\jxix» Stab.) ; Sib,—Would you kindly inform your reideri why the Borough is called upon to contribute £350 towards the laying of the 9-inch pipei in Brown and Oven I streets P Also, the amount contributed by those interested? It appears to me that some of the Councillors are rather fast in roting away the money which belongs to the burgesses fot the purpose of benefit* ting their " own private property." Much has been said; about the illegal expend!* tare of Bowvgh funds; but if this; is legal, is it just r—l am, 4c, • Watch*Doo. Thames, April 18th, 1878. P.S.--What does our worthy Mayor expect to get in return for bis liberality on this occasion P Let him not trust too much to the Grey horse, for it is only a rery short time since' a certain " gray " horse met with a very sudden death.— ■: ■• '■ -' '' * :'■'/ ':'..
