Henry Gedleigh was 'charged with unlawfullj neglecting to keep a light burning orer the door of his licensed house, to wit the Melbourne Hotel, Shortland, on the night of the 10th inst. Defendant admitted the offence, and stated that the light was burning when he went to bed, and when he woke up it was out, and the place was full of gas. Mr Bullen said that that arose through the very small amount of gas that was used. Fined Is and costs. j AKOTHKB CASK. j Thomas Graham was charged with a similar offence with reference to the Una j Hotel. Defendant pleaded guilty. His Worship imposed a penalty of one shilling and costs, and said that he would j make the fine heavier for the next person ! brought before him for this offence. A NUISANCE. John Howard wai charged en the information of the Inspector of Nuisances with permitting offensive matter to remaia on his premises abutting on a publio thoroughfare. .-.,..
