The agitation orer the land question has not been altogether fruitless. It has elicited the fact that there are two blocks of land on the proper left bank of the Thamai Eirer, about three miles above Hikutaia. The natire names of the blocks are Hotungai and Taurikomore, the natire title io which was declared to be extinguished by notification in the New Zealand Gazette some time in February, 1870. The area of the two blocks it about 900 acres. The County Chairman has communicated with the Waste Lands Board to find out whether this land has erer been handed orer to it for being dealt with. If it has not steps will at once be taken to hare the land handed orer and brought into the market. The land is said to bo of fair quality, and the situation is good. Although a < small acreage, it would afford facilities for settlement for eight or nine families, who would be content with homeeteads of 100 acres each.
