WELLINGTON.
Monday.
A fire occurred on the Terrace this afternoon, in a house insured for £600 in the Standard office, and the furniture for £350 in the South British. The furniture was saved. The damage to the house is about £100.
In consequence of the protracted dry weather water is becoming very short.
The Primitive Methodist Church was broken into on Saturday or Sunday night, and tho mission boxes robbed.
Mrs Prewer, whoso huibapd died «
a few days ago, made a statement at the 11, M. Court to-day to the effect that sbe believed her husband died in consequence of the insufficient treatment of the two medical men who attended him. She says her husband would hare lired if he had been attended to properly. It is said an order has been given to exhume the body.
The insurances on the saw-mill recently burnt at Carterton are:—National, £200 on the building, and £409 on the machinery, £200 of which is re-insured in the South British, and £140 with the Phoenix.

In the Supreme Court this morning Mr Barton obtained lcare to postpone his motion for an attachment against the Argus proprietary at suit of E. T. Gillon. The case comes on again on Friday next.
