The trial crushing of a few loads of ■toff from the leader at No. 8 level has proved satisfactory* it having yielded 3$ ounces of gold. The manager will con* tinue his operations henp. The Vanguard crosscut is progressing through good working country, and is making first* rate progress. Wilton and party's shaft is now down 125 feet, and the ground continues good, A meeting of the diree? tors was held this morning for the pur* pose of accepting tenders for several tributes. A very large number of tenders had been sent in for the favorite blocks, and four tributes were let, viz.—Nos. 11 and 12 blocks, Sohofield and party, 24 per cent.; No. 7 block, J. Craig and party. 21£ per cent.; No. 10 block, MoLaughlan and party, 20 per cent All of these tributes have been let in the No. 8 level, and the competition for them was doubtless caused by the payable nature of the stuff obtained by Carnie and party. Wilton and party and Williams and party hare started crushing lots of 50 tons each
at Bull's battery. They are expected to yield well. Trnscott and party hare finished a crushing of 30 tons for the yield of 25 ounces of gold.
