TAPU AND MERCURY BAY TRACK.
| (To the.Editor of the Evening Star.) , B^l,-1 see by the Board of Works ! report, presented at the. meeting of the County. Council yesterday, that it it intended to call for tenders for —fc«ng the Tapu and Mercury Bay track. As this is a work which is really required, I would suggest that it be done before the winter sets in. I hear that two reports upon the tracks now used have been sent in, so different in character that' it ap-. pears it was not thought advisable to read them at the meeting of the Council. The County Engineer ought' to inspect the tracks himself', or there is a great probability that the public money would be as judiciously and economically spent on this track as on the rest of the work done in the Tapu district I am keeping an eye oi those who are doing the work there—in fact, have a daily record of their work, and some day intrnd giving you the icsuit of my observations.—l am, Ac, Gum Dukub.
