FIELDING.
Friday. Mr Barton, C.E., who has been exploring for a practicable road from the West Coast to Auckland, returned yesterday. He has discovered a good route from Fielding via Bird's station, on the plains. The question is, therefore, row considered settled of a direct route to Auckland via the Fielding settlement.
