QUREY.

(To the Editor of the EvsKixa Stay.)

Sib,—Will you be kind enough to inform me whether a member of a governing body can (lawfully) be an employee of that same body ? I refer to one of the members for Ohinemuri, in the County Council. Is this a sop for Cerberus ? On dit he might open his mouth too wide. Is he going to resign in faror of Mr H. Alley of Hikutaia ? It is nearly time that some of our County members gare place to better men; let the ratepayers beware, and next trip elect men who. will, do their duly, and not spend the rates foolishly or unlawfully, end ere not under the thumb of any ring.—l am, Ac, Tohuhoa. March 27th, 1878.
