ALBURNIA.

This mine was visited to-day. On reaching the No. 3 winae I found stoping and driving west proceeding vigorously^ In the drive the Sons of Freedom reef..is! about four feet thick, and is divided 'into two diat'oct portions—the foot* Wall and hangi:ig-wall. In the hanging-wall there' are colors of gold pretty freely disseminated through the stone, together with some good mineral indications. There was a good bank of this part of the reef standing at the time of my visit. The foot-wall portion does not look so well, but it occasionally makes gold. The stoping above referred to is only the. ; carrying along of the leading stone, which has been taken to within a few feet of the face of the drive. The lode here also looks well, and it. is from this place that the 2cwt of specimens were obtained the day before yesterday. More are sure to be to hand next, breaking:down, and it cm safely be said that there is a payable block overhead -between the stope and the Whau level. The men in the Sons of Freedom aection are at work stripping dorm and timbering up the connecting winxe, and should be finished shortly. There is no other news of interest to notice at the mine. At the Herald battery the crushing continues to shape well, and there should be a good retorting at the end of the week. ,
