RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

(Before H. Goldsmith and E. F. Tizard, Esqs., J's.P.) ASSAULT.
James Taslcer was cliarged witb assaulting a little boy named William Orme by throwing a atone at him, on Friday, the 22nd. Defendant pleaded guilty. He did not mean to hit the little boy. James Dare, sworn, deposed—l am in the employ of Mr Orme. In the day in question I saw Mr Orme's little boythrowing water with a pannikin, and Tasker's boy came across the road and threw a itone at Wi'lio, knocking the^ wind out of him. ■ j Margaret Tasker, aworn, deposed—l, am the wife of John Tasker. On Friday last, about half-past four, my boy came home from school, and went up to get a drink to the tap near Mr Orme'f place. Mrs Orme's boy was standing at the tap, and he heated water over my boy. My boy laid, •• Stop it, Billy. My boy itooped for a stone, and threw it, aud it tipped little Orme in the arm. Case dismissed with a caution. Court adjourned.
