of particular portions of land in tho North Ifland, for tho purpose of mining for gold, for tho establishment of special gpltiomonts, or for tho purpose of rnilway construction : And by tho said Act it is also provided that it shall bo lawful for tho Governor, whenever he shall have determined to enter into negotiations for tho purchnse of such land, to insert a notice in the New Zealand Gazette thut it is his intention to enter into such negotiations, and after such notice is inserted it shall not be lawful for any one to purchase or acquire from tho Native owners any right, title, or interest, or contract for the purchase or acquisition from the Native owners of any rißht, title, or interest, in the lands specified in such notice, unless the notice be cancelled by the Governor: Provided that no such notice shall have longer operation than for the period of two years. Now theroforei I, Sir James Fergusion, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of tho hereinbefore in t»art recited Act, and in exercise of tho power* thereby vested in me, do hereby give notice that it is my intention forthwith to enter into negotiations for the purchaso from the Native owners of the block or parcel of land aituate in the Province of Auckland, and described in the Schedule hereto;

SCHEDULE.

Commencing at Pukorokoro, on the western shore of tho Frith of Thames, tbenco by tbe eastern boundary of the lands comprising the District of Wuikato, as taken under the "New Zealand Settlements Act," to the north-west angle of the H»ngawor» Block } thence by the-northern boundary of tho Hangawera Block, tho western and northern boundnrics of the Awaroa Block, and the northern boundary of the Mang»kahik» Block to the. River Piako; thence by that river to the junction of tho Waiharakeko , Stream j thenco by that stream to Iho Wai- j hongi Block; thence by the northern boundaries of tho Waihongi and Kahia Blocks to tbe River Waitoa; thence by that river to the Urubau Block; thenco by the eastern boundaries of the Urubau and Matamata Blocks to the Wharetangata Block; thence by the northern boundary of tha Wbaretangnta Block to the Turangamoana Block; thence by the wot tern boundary of the Tv- j rangamoann Block to the River Waibou; thenco southwards by that river to the junction of the Oraka Stream ; thence by a lino due east to the western boundary of the lands comprising tbe District of Tnuranga, as taken under the "New Zealand Settlements Act; " I thence by that boundary to the summit of To Aroha Mountain ; thence by the northern boundary of the aforesaid district of Tauranga to the Nga-Kuri-a-Whare, on the coast of the Bay of Plenty ; thence by the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand to Cape CoMlle; thence by the shores of the Frith of Thames, or Hauraki Gulf, to the point of commencement at Pukorokoro aforesaid. Given tinder the hand of His Excellency the Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council, Gover nor and Commander-in-Cbiof in and ovrr Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Tice-Admiral of the name; nnd issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this Fifteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventyfour. ■ Dokaxd McLbak.
