CHRISTCHURCH.

This .day. At the Conference of Mayors and Chairmen of County Councils, held for the purpose of considering the question of management of hospitals and charitable aid, resolutions were carried to the following effect:—(l.) That the conference do not see their way to accept the Governmcut proposal* with respect to taking over the Christcburch hospital by the Ci> Council. (2.) That for the management of hospitals and charitable aid the Government be recommended to form districts, with Boards on which the Government, Municipality, and County Councils bo represented. (3.) That as the Christchurch hospital has no endowments, the Government be requested to obtain an endowment for it.
