ALBURNIA.
Yesterday I, gave an account of the work'being done in the Old Whau and winze Jerels of the mine; to day the other workings will be referred to. Tho reef in the winze in Dixon's section is showing payable gold. The winze is down seme 35 feet. Dixon's low level is in a length of 300 feet, and the leader is poor. A connection has at last been effected between the Whan level and the Sons of Freedom tunnel, and the men are at present engaged patting the finishing touches to the work, such as timbering, squaring, etc. This work is one of considerable importance, as it is by it that it is proposed to send the out put of the present workings of the mine to the tramway, and by so doing the ste^p section of the tramway will be avoided. It will also be put toother uses, for opening the ground between the Whau level nnd the Sons of Freedom tunnel. The manager cleaned up the amalgam on hand to-day, and had an interim retorting which produced tho return of 433 ounces of gold.
