The champion belt of the Auckland Naval Brigade, at the competition jesterday, was won by Seaman T. Allen wnh the score of 43 points. The majority of the scores were very poor. Our own Naval Brigade can do better than that.
Last night's Auckland Star says that last evening the Transit was steaming, up the Wairoa when she ran on a sandbank. On the tide tailing the vessel became embedded in the sand, and did not rise with the tide, but scmained full of water. The captain rode overland to Papakura, wad came down town by train this morning.
It is not known whether any further damage has been done, but it is believed not. Mr Worsp, on behalf of the lusurance Companies, proceeded to the Wairoa to-day, in order to havo her floated off.
