Edward Quartcrman, who met with an accident on the railway on Monday, had both legs successfully amputated jester* day.
The Premier addressed a. erowd«t meeting at Ashburton last night. A vote of thanks and confidence was unanimously carried. He proceeds to Akaroa in the Hinemoa at noon to-day. i
