QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
Driving in the Queen of the May section continues, and the junction of the two lodes may be expected at anj time now. The lode here is over four feet thick, and has a likely appearance. Stoping is also proceeding here, and at present it is the chief source of the quartz supply. Quartz is also coming from several other parts of the mine, but not in any large quantity. The drive put in from the
Piako is now within 100 feet of the shaft, but the* water has not yet been tapped. First-rate progress is being made, but it is evident that there is a slide or bar of hard country between the shaft and the face of the drive, which prevents the water percolating through. The tributers are working away as usual, but there is nothing new to report in respect to either of the sections..
