Twenty-three city water supply schemes have been received by the City Council. They propose to obtain water from ihe following souroes :—4 from artesian wells, 7 from the river Waimakariri, 7 from the Heathcote,-3 from the Avon, one from Okuru, one from the Hawkins.
The tramway scheme between Christ* church tnd suburbs promises to be a success. The suburban Municipalities and Road Boards guarantee the Company 21 years' lease, and the City Council are favorable to granting 14 years' lea3e.
