The Australian anti-fever tree—that is the blue gum, or eucalyptus globulus—htt now spread its- fame throughout the world, but tbero ara many who do not properly estimate its splendid qualities. It has been estimated that the Australian blue gum*, which stud the face of , tbe colony, oontain about fire hundred million gallons.of pure rolatileoil, that is tbe mortal foe of fever and ague. Every. day in the year the forests.of the colony are giving out and exhuling, in the form of vapor, an aromatic fragrance to our breezes, sjncl a health-giving essence to our people. This fact is now recognised by all (he scientists in the world. ITS CLAIM AS A CURATIVE. It lias now become the fashion with the inTenters or discoverers of remedial agent* to claim something little short of infallibility and universality of curt for their respective agents. Messrs Sander and B*ns did nothing of tbe sort. They have confidence tbat their etsence posfteeces many virtues ; but the full extent of these they do not know yet. They arc now collecting data, and they are most careful and searching in performing this. It' is quite sure then, that., their eucalypti essence can fairly assert itself to be a grand panacea for many of the ills that flesh it heir tO. . .; ' ;-.- In Scarht, Typhoid, or any cant ofMtver, nothing will protect better against contagion tban a few drops of the essence poured in tbe palm of tbe baud, and rubbed in; rirorder to liberate tbe vapors, or sprfnklei orer the clothes.. The perfume will be noticed for ft great length of time. • : ■;, Inwardly used, take three er four dwea in half a tumbler of water. The essence effect* a most surprising change of the white con* dilution, correcting indigestion, and oral ing a healthy appetite. ; For Children Attending Adtoeft, the came mode may b«i adopted. . In Cases of Sicknets, a few drops put into a saucer, anti put into tho room will,,being mii etheric csrence,.. cvapurate, and fill the room with the purifying vapor. : Are you obliged to Travel! A few drops occasionally rubbed on tlio body, will protect agaiußt any. contugion you may be exposed to, in comitsg direct with sick persons, or in sleeping in the same room with, or in beds occupied previously by tick persons. All RoUlkeepers will do well to sprinkle from time to time in drawers, where linen is usually kept, a few drops of the"pure eaten* titti essence. It produces no spots whatever, as every particle of it evaporates, and nothing remains. . In short, where a disinfectant U needed, the pure essential ccualypii essence ought to b« the one you have recourse to/ and no family ought, to be without it. For all Wounds, Cnfs, JBurni, Scoldings, Ulcers, and Cancerous Wounds, a piece of linen wrapped round the suffering ptrt, and : moistened with a few drops of the eucalypti 1 essence, will slop ail pain, and effeot a speedy euro. In enact where a piece of linen cannot be applied, tho moistening of the suffering 'part with the pure essence will do as well. In Case of Colds moisten the nostrils with a few drops and inhale.the vapour, end you will feel tho immediate relief, and entire rid* dance of the heat. In all cases where the Lungs may I* Affected, the above-mentioned process, continually repeated, will be the best that can be advised.
