The Council met today, and received petitions praying them to maintain their privilege, and adjourned for a week. In the Assembly, Mr Berry gave notice of a resolution to reform the Con* •dilution. He proposes to replace the Jouncil by an Upper House. —Mr Lyell mado a personal explanation of his efforts to effect a compromise. He read a memo, which promised simultaneous action of both Houses in sending up a proper Appriation Bill. The mission party was three days in a' state of siege, and spent a most fearful time. The natives massacred an Englishman named McCort and several others on the fishing station at Engineer Island. The Europeans are retaliating.
