Water Supply Committee.

The usual monthly meeting of the Thames Water Supply Committee was held at the Council Chambers * last evening at 7 o'clock. Tffß HEW MAINS. ' Mr Dean reported that, owing to the small force pump they had, the pipes being laid could not be tested up to more than 6Olbs pressure. It, had been resolved at the previous meetiug that the pipes be tested up to 2001bs. They might purchase a pump and dispose of it again at a profit to the Harbor Board for their hydraulic crane. It was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write to Messrs T. and S. Morrin, and ask the price of a 4001bs pressure hydraulic pump. FIRE CONNECTION. ▲ letter was read from Mr Wilkinson, Albert street, asking - for water for fire purposes. He did not want the water now, but simply the right to connect when he wished. Mr Bead said that they had not calculated that they would use other connections, except for the fire plugs. This had clearly been an oversight. Connections would have to be made for every, one that wanted water on the north side of the street. The Turncock said that the mains were laid past the Advertiser office, and to bore i the mains might cause the pipe to crack. After some discussion it was resolved that the secretary be instructed.to write to Mr Wilkinson stating that. the Com* mittee would entertain his application at any time it was made. FINANCE COMMITTEE Messrs Brodie, Mc^owan, and Hume were elected Finance Committee for the ensuing term, and the accounts were referred to tbem. ALTIUATION OF TIM* OF MEETING. Mr Hume moved that the time of meet* iog be altered from .7 o'clock to 7.30 o'clock. Carried. ■ ... PBOPOSED NEW LOAN. Mr Hume tabled a motion to the effect that at next meeting the Committee consider the advisability of raising a loan of £3000, or more if they think fit. This was all the business.
