(VBOH OUB OWN COBBBSPONDBfcT.) Pabboa, This day* 1.15. p.m. The steamers Piafeo and Botoiti hare just started for the Thames, the former leading,by about 300 yards. There is to be a trial of speed. Captain Moore, of the Botoiti, is taking down a small box containing samples of potatoes for bition at the Show to-morrow, consigned to Mr Pulleine, hon. sec, by Mr C. F. Mitchell. No. 1 sample consists of 81bs pink-eye potatoes, grown by Mr W. Gr. Nicholls (without manure) at To Mura-o-te-Ahi, Paeroa, and are by no meanß solitary specimens. No. 2 sample is from a second planting this season, grown by" Mr Dodd at Mackaytown. He first put in kidney potatoes, and after digging them he put in Hobartown seed.
