RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY. (Before W. Fraser, Esq., 8.M.) LABCBSY. William Mclntosh was charged that he did, at Thames, on the 28th ult, steal, take, and carry away, from the premises of Thos. Manning, certain monies amounting to £4 or thereabouts, the property of the said Thomas Manning. Defendant pleaded guilty. He was sorry for what he had done. Mr Bullen said that the defendant had been employed by Mr Manning of the Willotighby hotel, and yesterday he was seen by a little girl taking some money from the till in the bar. He had known the defendant for eight years as a hard* working man, and he had only been three times previously before the Court—twice for leaving his cart unattended, and once for drunkenness. He would never have suspected that the defendant would have been guilty of larceny. Sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labor. Court adjourned.
