ALBURNIA.
The specimens and picked atone were sent down the tramway, and crushing started this morning. There are about 26cwt of specimens and picked stone. At the mine all operations are proceeding satisfactorily. A breaking down of the lode in the wost driye, No. 1 winze, has been attended with satisfactory results, good gold being seen in some 21 inches of the hanging wall portion. At this place the Mo. 3 winxe will break through shortly, and : afford jentilation and a means of getting down mullock to fill in i when itoping ii started on a large scale.
Tho specimen leader ami Sons of Free* dom reef in the i/iteriuediiite lercl arc still being worked with satisfactory results, but nothing calling for cuy especial notice has transpired there. Tbe reef in No. 3 winzo from Whau level (referred to above) is of good size, but appears to be patchy. However, purceln or specimens come from it occasionally, Tbe face of the east drive is now within 20 feet of tbe New North Devon boundary, and the reef is in by no means a satisfactory state, as it is badly defined ;, the slopes, however, are yielding well. Dizon's leader is four feet wide, and continues to show gold.
