MURDER FOR LOVE.
Harry Rolls, avowg lamer, of SM» lington, near Oxford, has beea chaffed on remand, at Weodttoek, with shooting his former sweetheart, Mils Allen, of Gastington, a village Mar Oxford. Mr Bmallhorn, surgeon; of jfriishani, afaied he waa called in to see Mtta AHea, when he found her lying on the floor eovereat with blood: He examined her hody and found three bullet wonndf—fit., one k the arm, one in the left fore arat, break* ing it in two placet, and one in the back of the right ride. The woonds were, im his opinion, dangerous, especially the one in the back, the bullet being still there j in fact, he waa afraid ahe ; was sinking. A laborer, living at Caasißgton, said he was at home, when a little girl named Hall came to him and told him that Harry Bolls was down at Mr Putts, and using Miss Allen very ill. On going to the house he found the door of the parlor fastened, and heard Miss Allen cry for help. He kicked in a panel of the door and saw her lying on the floor. The 1 prisoner was in the room with a pistol ia) his hand, and said if anyone came to pro* teet her he would shoot them. The prisoner said he had done what he wanted to do, and she was sue to die, but he had plenty of time to repeat. A police constable said that the prisoner came to hif house and aaid he had cone to give hrasself into custody for shooting Miss Allen. The constable aaid he must be joking, and the prisoner said, " I'm not; for here tf the revolver I did it with/ (The revohter was produced, and waa a six-ohambafed one of large site.) "| fired three or four times at her—once in the back, and the fell in the chair with her back towards me." He ssid she bad treated him very cruelly, for he bad speni over £300 on her, and she. had been deceiving him for a long time. He also said the devil most have tempted, fer he loved her as he loved his life. Aa tie lady has since died, the jury, atnkn adjourned inquest, returned a verdict of " Wilful Murder " against the priaaaerw Home News. 4
