AITGBIf IS LIFE. Although the modern Materia' Medina includes many valuable remedies for human afflictions, it is a matter of certainty that in all cases whero the animal vitality is failing, Phosphorus is decidedly superior to every other remedy at present known. It will work effects such as nothing elee will produce, and it possestes the great advantage of not causing, when its use i* relinquished, the slightest reaction or dopretsion. The' question naturally presents itself, " WII7 is so Taluable an element «o little regarded and so soklom prescribed P" The only answer which "can be given is :—That a certain difficulty has been found in so preparing it that its action may be kept under perfect control. Hi!berto it has been used in almond ■cd olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances; bnt however valuable it hns been found in all the. hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect itt or general purposes, and to employ it only in extreme: cases, and after every other remedy has failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on. the human system may be realised without any of those drawback* which previous modes of administration have invariably produced. r < •ar Caution- — phosphorus is sometimes sold in the form of Pills and Lozenges ; it should be generally known that every form where SOLID PARTICLES of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should be cautioned against the use of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water. Protected by Royal Letters Patent. \ . '.
