OHINEMURI LAND PURCHASES.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sin, —I see by yesterday morning's issue of your contemporary that an opposition petition is being signed against our Warden for settling up Mr Jas. Mackay's purchases. Now, sir, I would impress on the people signing such petition that Captain Frascr is a business man, with experience, and is not a pabeha Maori, so that what is entrusted to him will be settled in a spirit of impartiality, and what is more to the point, without loss of time.—l am, &c,
G. Habcoubt. [The opposition probably emanates from eopo disappointed Pakeha Maori or Ifative interpreter, and will not hare much efl'ect with the Government if they have any idea of commissioning Captain Fniser to do the work indicated, than whom a better could not be found, as he possesses the confidence of the principal oaves as we 11 as the Government.—Ed.]
