PERSEVERANCE.

Ci.pt. Tunks. the Rev. W. K. Mulgan, and other Tauranga shareholders hare recently been on a visit to the mine, and they express themselves highly pleased with the mine and its prospects. They recommend that the top levels, that is, all above the tramway level, be let on tribute % ' the low level workings being reserved by the company for its own work. Mr Cor- i bett has promised that when they are ready to crush he will render them every assistance in his power to facilitate their doing so, and a scheme has been devised by which the quartz from the low level, which is 80 feet below the tramway level, can be raised to the tramway level at, little cost. It consists of an incline tramway worked by a wbip and horse, and will answer very well. I learn that a discovery " has been made which may materially affect the Perseverance and other mines in the vicinity. It is stated that some splendid prospects have been obtained by breaking up large quartz boulders which He in the gully some distance below the Perseverance, and not far distant from Wick's battery. This has caused quite a miniature rush, and some stone has been found said to be worth 18ozs per ton. These boulders are evidently from some rich reef in the vicinity which has as yet not been discovered, and its outcrop should be lying about the surface somewhere.
