At the nomination to-day the following gentlemen were proposed : — Edward Pearce (old member), Wm. Hutchinson (late Mayor), I*. S. Barton (barrister). Mr Barton's son addressed the electors on behalf of his father. The show of hands was largely in favor of Mr Barton, while the show of hands for Mr Pearce was the smallest. The poll takes place on Monday.
