HAPE CREEK.

The purchaser of this claim, Mr James Darrow, states that the mine will be worked at once, though whether by a company or otherwise has notyet been decided. The mine, never having had a trial, is just in the same position that it was at the forming of the late ill-fated with the exception that some expensive mining appliances have been erected on the ground. The company's battery works in a most satisfactory manner, and is a great boon to the tributers and small shareholders of the district. It is plain, however, that unless the Hape Creek claim itself supplies quartz soon that these parties who now use it will not have sufficient work to make it pay.
