STAR (KUBANUI).
This mine was visited to-day. Kingsford and mates are slicking to it pluckily, notwithstanding that their sereral months of toil hare as yet been unrewarded. Since my 'jrevious visit the main tunnel or opening drive has been extended north over 350 feet, the last 100 feet or so having been through very tight ground, which has rendered timbering unnecessary. The main slide of this channel of country has brcn intersected and as the face of the drive is still in broken country, I think that they are not quite clear of it yet. Three good sized lodes have been intersected. The first one is a hard dark colored one running a little west of north towards the Flying Eagle shaft and the next leader runs west so that at a distance of about 20 feet from the drive these two should junction. The last of these leaders is at present in the face, and is white hungry looking dirt. This lode also runs towards the Flying Eagle shaft, indeed, a survey has demonstrated the fact that they must all junction at that i-oint. In the shaft some years ago a good patch of gold wai obtained, but the
flow of water caused operations to cease. One of the leaders running towards the shaft is now being driven on, and it is hoped that some gold will be obtained in the vicinity ot the junction. In the present face of the tnain drive v m~ch better class of country is coming in.
